Im considering picking one up to put inside a DEC VT420 terminal I've got lying around just for fun.

You should probably keep your expectations low though if you are aiming to run it as a server.

i've always had this dumb idea where I would buy a rasp pi, a small camera, some solar panels, a battery, all hobbled together with some hot glue, zipties and shit, maybe a 4G card, and throw this contraption over a street light and have my own little surveilance piece of shit thing that I could log into remotely via SSH.

Probably won't do it but it is one of those dumb things that is fun to think about

I have one that I intended to use as an IRC client, just to ssh into irssi on it. Shit was laggy as all fuck even on a local connection, to the point that ssh'ing into my VPS using my phone's connection on the go is better. Pi Zero is so slow it can only just barely handle fucking ssh'ing into irssi.

Good luck running a torrent client and FTP server on one, and especially good luck running a cloud service of any kind.

I've got one which is running OpenVPN at the moment, I might swap it out with my baby cam pi0 so I don't have to use an ugly USB hub for both a wifi dongle and camera.

'Bout time they released one with built in wifi.

Pi 3 masterrace, as you can see from the ram usage it's still complete overkill for what I'm doing (wifi-ethernet bridge, fileserver) etc. I would have used an older board as budget is tight but then I'd have to use a wifi adapter, and last time I had one it kept disconnecting.

All you people saying it's slow but it's a device made in 2017, I'm figuring it's just slow when executing whatever tasks you're trying, which are probably too much for the hardware.

I bet there are bare-metal type programs out there for embeded devices that would work plenty fast on a zero.
