How can you stay safe on irc?

Direct connect from your home will show your ip, vpn has your data, some random proxies are unsafe.

Nobody cares about IP on IRC, unless you're doing some shady stuff, and if you were, you'd already know what you're supposed to be doing anyways.

Worst case scenario someone figures out what country you're connected from. So what? As long as it's not a insecure network, you're fine.
