Why the FUCK is it so hard to make my printer work on Linux Mint 18.1 ?
This is why everyone uses windows. NO EXCUSE, I'm going to wipe out linux and go back to micro$oft.

cool story bro

I've never had a problem installing a printer on Linux. What problem are you having?
>>59340317
you chose the wrong printer
PS/PCL lasers and most epson inkjets works fine in linux

I have a Brother Laser printer DCP1610W.
Do you have any instructions how to install it?
I've followed the manufacturer guide but I couldn't make it work, it asked me for the URI device number on the terminal, the fuck I know what that is.
Thanks for trying to help by the way, I really like KDE but I need to print papers for my schoolwork.

>complain about printers on linux
>not posting model number
I used Epson and HP printers without much trouble. Sometimes Windows driver was a clusterfuck than Linux driver, but you know. It's free software. You can whine on Windows too, but even less people care.

Yast has a tool to choose printers from list. If one didn't worked, you could choose a similar model and with some luck you could use it. I don't know about Mint.

>use openSUSE
>plug in printer
>notification: "You want me to make this work with your laptop?"
>yes
>start printing less than a minute later
Stop using a shit distro.
I've never had a problem with my printers and Linux out of the box. HP PSC1209 and Canon BJC-55.
But the printing is slow af for whatever reason.

openSUSE is shit with non-Latin letters in tty.
