AMD :
> 1700X - $349
> Vega Nano - $399
Total: $748 for top notch, 8-core/16-thread hardware.

Meanwhile at Intel/Nvidia :
> i7 7700K - $349
> 1080ti - $599
Total: $948 for a 4-core/8-thread rig.

How can Intel even compete?
>>
>>59338412

By continuing to dominate marketshare.

Vega nano equivalent is maybe overocked 970. Even then amd wod struggle

Have fun paying $200 in an expensive useless piece of crap while I'll be doing the exact same thing with my Vega Nano.

AMD makes products in relation so what customers actually need.

Intel make expensive products no one needs.

It doesn't matter if on the benchmarks Intel is ahead... no one needs this extra power. AMD are actually the smart ones here but you're too dumb to understand it.

>You are goint to pay 400$ to do "exact same thing" ?
Yes, I am going to pay $200 less to do the exact same thing.

Probably because modern hardware is able to do all of those things at once without a hiccup. A lot of it has to do with how the software utilizes the hardware, and the operating system and everything it runs is software.

You might have an okay desktop from at least 5 or 6 years ago run GTAV at minimal settings and be playable, but not pleasant enough for your liking at around 30 FPS, mostly because it's not trying to load everything at once with the occasional low-res world right on top of you. But once that thing starts running Fallout 4 as low as possible, you're going to have one hell of an unpleasant time. You'll get around 30 FPS, but watch as it tries to render every possible detail it can find without any visible settings to turn off a lot of that. Good luck with the urban areas too, and pray that your system doesn't shut off to avoid overheating.

All of the things that was mentioned can easily be done in 4 cores with 8 threads, so long as the software you're running is optimized and running on multiple threads.
>>
>>59358924
I'm not the guy you responded to but ReLive has HEVC encoding. Supporting like 240fps at 1080p or something encoding.

They can't even come close there. You can get a dual Xeon E5 2670 system for $600.
Ryzen competes against 1.

1700x is 400. where are people getting these numbres from?

thats really compelling, can you get a board with ddr4 support tho?

Quality board you have here.
Thanks, mods.

>How can Intel even compete?
Marketing, vendor lock-in and the simple fact that the i7 7700k cruses the 1700X on performance.

It's also interesting to note that the i7 7700k is a $410 part and the R7 1700 is too while the 1700X you mention goes for $500.

These are fascist union prices converted to USD.

The prices of these parts are not relevant to me personally, though. Intel has some i5's that are 2x as fast as my current system for $220-$250. AMD doesn't have anything that competes with those.

Hahahahahah MFW paid 470 usd for a 1800x because my retailers don't know how to convert currency

why are you comparing these two CPUs while i7-7700k is objectively faster and better than 1700x?
>>

8 cores? 4 cores? Who needs 2 cores? Just take your one core and leave
>>

Literally nobody needs more than one core :^)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

What the fuck is going on? I can't find anything from AMD happening.

American prices don't include vat, vat gets added at checkout depending.
So 499 is a meme unless you live in a state that has no sales tax.

can we finally agree that 1700 is amazing value sweetspot between 7700 NOT K and 7700K
1700x is if you are AMD fan and do not want to OC basically half mad
and 1800x is either pants on had retarded buy if all you do is gaming or you need 8 cores for work

and 7700K is irrelevant in a year tier

It's some ancient form of currency, invaluable objects which have been assigned a virtual value, to be traded for items which do have a real value.

Multi-threading doesn't increase performance in 90% of games. Multi-threading is actually a stupid feature that only slightly helps in a very few uses, it's real purpose is so retards will buy shitty overpriced laptops because they think 4 threads is the same as 4 cores.
>>
>>59345385
Computing power generally refers to multicore systems, not highly clocked quad cores for gaming
>>
>>59351287
Are you for real? Workstation tasks benefit from extra threads and solid cache, which is what Ryzen offers. Sure, many people doing those kinds of workloads would need the extra pcie lanes of x99 for things like running multi-gpu molecular simulations which would fully saturate the pcie bandwidth, and may also be using multiple pcie ssds or fiber cards, but for someone who doesnt have the funds for that much hardware (and generally that amount of hardware would be funded by and for a laboratory anyway) Ryzen offers amazing price/performance. Someone with a 6900k wouldnt build a Ryzen PC, but thats because there isnt anything that is a worthy upgrade for someone with a 6900k (and cost isnt much of a factor).
