Yes. Anything that connects to cell towers like that can be tracked

Yeah, but not with the same precision as today or level of information as today am i right? I mean cell towers have can't pinpoint like GPS and 3G can. Also can they simply tap your phone simply because it is connected to a cell tower?

As long as 2 or more towers are in range they can track your fairly accurately
While older phones definitely don't have level of spying as modern smartphones never assume you're safe
