Press F to remember the good times when this was the fastest, most innovative browser instead of the bloated, laggy, CPU-raping, RAM-leaking, dying leftist SJW-infested pile of garbage it is today.

Palemoon sucks dick too, fucking thing can't even render video sites without getting laggy. And not all extensions (aka Firefox's main appeal) don't even work on it.
>>
>>59324563
Use SeaMonkey

It is the closest thing to FireFox 3 that isn't too outdated (it isn't bleeding edge) and is not a placebo like PaleMoon.

speeds are fine for me. it might be a few miliseconds slower than chromium based browsers but its negligable.
>>
>>59324842

I can open hundreds of tabs on Chromium an the browser won't get too laggy and shit itself, unlike FF/Palemoon (which is funny, since Firefox 3 could open 1000 tabs in a 4GB RAM machine and still worked ok).

You didnt answer the question. Why do you need hundreds of tabs open at once?
>>
>>59325185

Research, multi-tasking, read-later things, video downloading, (((((porn)))), work references, chatting, news reading, 4chan shitposting across boards, image browsing, shopping, auction watching, music listening.... there's no excuse why a modern browser can't keep so many tabs without going apeshit.
>>
>>59325205
I cant see how that would be over 100 tabs
>>
>>59325254

That's because you're a nomie who only posts duckfaces on instagram, not a power user with lots of things to do.
>>
>>59325205

>>

>>
>>59325310

Chromium's vanilla tab management fucking sucks compared to FF, but I've found extensions that make it decent. Seriously HOW FUCKING HARD IS IT TO MAKE A FAST BROWSER WITH GOOD TAB MANAGEMENT!???????

>>59325332

Firefox is so shit it would still be laggy after closing tabs and crash eventually, I'm not having that problem with Chromium so far.
>>
>>59325387

And I dont have that problem with Firefox. I guess use whats best for you, right?
>>
>>59325415

Can't argue with that, all I'm asking is a browser that just werks for tab hoarders. Firefox 3 was the closest thing, it's been downhill since.
>>
>>59325205
I don't know how ff handles 100+ tabs on windows but on linux and osx ff works like a charm. If iridium had treetabs I would try it.

Still using Firefox (portable), now upgraded to Firefox ESR 52, no issues of note, Health Report say the last "crash" was in 2012 and this has been upgraded with each new version since 2011. No memory leaks, no real lag to speak of (no more than any other browser), still gets good scores on Javascript benchmarks versus the competition, 27 addons, 13 user scripts, absolutely no problems whatsoever.

OP, you just have no luck with browsers and software.

Or you're fucking stupid.

>stupid fucking people will be the death of us all
>>
>>59326278

How many open tabs you average?
>>
>>59326328

I have 7 open at the moment, I've had as many as 45 open but I'm not stupid like most people and I don't leave 'em fucking open for hours and sometimes days at a time which is utter insanity but whatever.

Same installation in the same folder (again, portable) since Firefox 3 came out, upgraded through every version till Firefox ESR 28 came out then I switched to using only the ESR builds and that's what's been upgraded ever since.

Regardless, it works for me, it's heavily customized (you couldn't even tell it's Firefox by looking at it and I don't mean because of rounded tabs, I only use the Dev theme so the tabs are squared proper and I use Tab Mix Plus to start a new row after 10 tabs wide.

People having problems with Firefox over the past decade either don't have a fucking clue (the most likely solution) or they have machines and OS installs that are fucked up to begin with.
>>
>>59326474
>I have 7 open at the moment

Well no wonder, ANY browser even shit tier old 2009 Internet Explorer works seamlessly with so few tabs open.
>>
>>59326521
did you read the rest of his post?
>>
>>59326542

See, the problem when dealing with stupid fucking people like that person is that they can't help themselves in rationalizing their own positions whatever they happen to be.

You can't fix stupid, the best you can hope to do is point it out whenever it crosses your path in the hopes of warning others so they'll avoid it and not get sucked down by it.

>stupid fucking people will be the death of us all
>>
>>59326542
>>59326668

Irrelevant drivel, as I said old Firefox in 2008 could handle 1000+ open tabs just fine, new Firefox in 2017 can barely handle more than a couple dozen. What gives?

>1000+ tabs in Firefox in 2008
>that would entail using more RAM than the motherboard was physically capable of
>your page file would expand itself constantly and perform so horribly on the SATA I hard drives and controllers that the machine would literally crawl

If you're going to lie, at least do it well meaning don't blow it so far out of proportion that your comment becomes dismissed as fucking stupidity immediately.

If you'd said maybe 100 tabs that would be believable.

Also, since Mozilla has every fucking build and version of Firefox that's ever been made available even right now on their FTP site why don't you go get Firefox 1.0 (it's only 4MB in size) and install it then let's see you open 1000+ fucking tabs on Vista or XP or even a Linux distro running on a Core Duo or Core 2 Duo machine with 1 or possibly 2GB of system RAM in it and then show us Task Manager or System Monitor or top or whatever you want, then show us a video of the machine actually working and doing other things with 1000+ tabs open.

Until you can do that and it plainly demonstrates the browser working perfectly with no lag or other issues and the system remains snappy and fast you should really just shut the fuck up.
>>
>>59324563
Let's fork it and make it better. It is open source after all
>>
>>59327080
>that would entail using more RAM than the motherboard was physically capable of

Back then I had 2GB of RAM and a core 2 Duo CPU. And it did worked, even if was laggy (but not unusable).

>If you're going to lie, at least do it well meaning don't blow it so far out of proportion that your comment becomes dismissed as fucking stupidity immediately.

I like Firefox because of muh freedoms and a proper vim shortcuts support. Chrome always intercepts so I can't use it in PDF, addons page or while tab is loading. Whole point of using vim is missing, because you never know when it'll work.

Although Firefox is really bad compared to what we have in Chrome now. Sync works like shit, javascript/animation heavy websites are really slow - consider wikimapia, for example - or something like inbox.google.com where microlags in Firefox are annoying. Most of the addons will turn off e10s, so you have to be careful picking those.

But I don't really care. It's fine and I'm glad I'm not using the botnet. I'll be waiting couple of years for a shiny new Servo engine written in safe and robust language. Today these issues doesn't give too much of a discomfort.
>>
>>59333308
I guess "really bad" is too harsh there and it is not what I meant. Firefox just noticeable worse, but it's a bearable price for muh freedoms.
