> Playable Ads – Acquire Users Who Love to Engage with Your App
https://blogs.windows.com/buildingapps/2017/03/09/playable-ads-acquire-users-love-engage-app/#uqTEm7WdLgZO8WWH.97

> Playable Ads are a completely new way for end users to interact with ads and apps. With this capability, end users never leave the current app. The ad click will result in inline expandable app streaming: for three minutes, the user can interact with the app as if it’s already installed on his/her device. This gives the user time to decide if he or she wants to install the app. At the end of the streaming session, users can click on a link to install the app if the app experience met expectations.

All your arguing is 100% completely futile.
You see, the /v/toddler only has 1 thing on his mind:
VIDEO GAMES
and nothing, short of his own death, or a shortage of Tendies, can change that.

If Microsoft required an anal probe to be worn for the latest """AAA""" games, the /v/igger would agree in a heartbeat, in fear of losing his video games.

The article you posted, OP, doesn't say much about any ads.

It seems it's a new system of previewing what an app can do before actually installing it. So, it's something that the user may choose to preview or not.

There's no mention of a forced display of ads. Read the article.

I enjoy WIN+TAB, third party apps never had proper virtual desktop support. They always had bugs.

The new Hyper-V capabilities are also cool, and Bash for Windows is also fuckin A, don't have to boot a VM and mess with shared folders and shit.

I really don't see the issue here. It only gets the "app stream" if you already clicked on the ad. If you already clicked on it, what's so bad about trying before you buy?

I personally hate ads and use blocks/host files blacklists anyway, and haven't actually clicked on an ad in 8 years, so this doesn't affect me.

I have windows and Ubuntu MATE running in a VM as guests with access to the dedicated GPU while my host is Xubuntu running off my integrated HD4600.

Performance loss is minimal around 5% CPU wise, better than dual booting because I can keep working with Xubuntu on the other monitor while my VM boots up.

Host is on SSD so it boots up in a few seconds usually only switch to VM if gaming or fucking around with other distros.

similar setup to this

I love how 99% of the thread is blind shitposting.
It's what Google made, an app-streaming kind of thing. You don't see only a silly ad that redirects you, but you are given chance to try the application out.

I see the appeal for Android, and for Store both. Android because it's a mobile platform with mobile data, battery and what not restraints.
In the MS Store plenty of apps cost money - even very dumb ones. So if I am given the choice to "stream it", I might try it. Without this, I would not even give it a chance.

Anyhow, this is no "new advertisement", it's just app streaming.
