You can use Gajim as an ersatz for now, supports all the modern XEPs. Conversations desktop client is in the making though.

Used http://homebrewserver.club/picking-modern-xmpp-clients.html to set up gajim. Works quite well in combination with conversations. Omemo syncs between clients etc.

These are the only servers that i know that support encryption and respect privacy that are free of charge.

conversations.im is probably the best server but it's $10 per year.
