Technological progress, rmyt

Perfectly accurate sound reproduction is great for scientific study, but different people may prefer different sound colors.

This looks like if they needed a doomsday device prop in Wild Wild West or some steampunk shit

AN AMP FIT FOR THE EMPRAH
>>59306758
That must be the ugliest amp I've ever seen

Gaudy and tacky as fuck. Ugh.

Only if the villain was faaaab ulous.
You fell into the tube amp? Well I accidentally a WHOLE tube amp once, the whole thing!

Tube amps are nice, valhalla 2
Vinyl also produces a warmer sound which can't be replicated

I'll take "accurate", thanks.
>>59311255
90% of those aren't real genres. Even if some artists claim to make them, those artists are just being fags.

sound does not have color. If you see colors in sound, that is a birth defect called kinesthesia. If you mean doppler blue/redshift, you don't have any unless you're using a wurlitzer, and that's cyclical.
>>59312329
mhh no it's not really a birth defect, synesthesia can be very advantageous
>>59312297
You haven't been tripping on acid while listening to sound waves breathing on you, accurate can be good when you're as accurate to perceive; I'm not lauding debauchery but when you're in a setting that begs for the same environment, warmer can be better

>liked grados on FB

I don't know enough about electronics to be able to tell how these work.
They do look cool though.

PS1 is supposed to have a pimp as fuck dac.
That dude went to absurd lengths to customize his. Looks like he even coated the PCB with something to cut out interference.
I seriously doubt it makes a noticable difference over a stock PS1.

>PS1 is supposed to have a pimp as fuck dac.
Only certain models, as far as I know.
>I seriously doubt it makes a noticable difference over a stock PS1.
Minute, unnoticeable differences are like audiophile catnip.

Yea, the 1000 version.
I have one, but the disc drive is busted.

why is he handling it like it's a penis

Except it's true. People enjoy spending time and money into their hobbies whether it's physical music and the accessories required to play it or the overpriced hardware and timesink OSes /g/ loves to tinker with.

Asahi Kasei Microdevices AK 4309.
To my knowledge it has been utilized in the SCPH-1001 and SCPH-5501.
A "bitstream", or rather a 1-bit delta-sigma converter, with claimed resolution around 16 bits. Actual SNR, dynamic range, and THD+N fall more than a little short.
That was a low end model from AKM made more than 20 years ago. Calling it a high end converter is a load of bullshit.
SCPH-1001 is thoroughly outperformed in every aspect by just about every smartphone on the market, and most motherboards as well.
