It's pretty nice. It's far from the ideal technology discussion site, but given the alternatives, i.e. /g/, Slashdot, Reddit, lobste.rs (was actually quite nice but it's dead rn)... HN ultimately turns out to be the lesser of the evils.

Also I like their philosophy of allowing posts that are not-technology-related but intellectually interesting anyway, I've had some good reads in there thanks to this.

It's pretty much just reddit with even more smugness
