Tell your wife that reading books does not make you more intelligent or benefit you in any meaningful way. It's just a hobby for some people. You can learn more things more quickly on the internet. There is lots of research backing this up.

Book readers are pretentious assholes. If you actually enjoy reading then fine, read some books. If you prefer to watch tv or play video games then fucking do that.

You're retarded. Books aren't on the same thing as movies and videogames, unless you're just reading fiction. All educated and respected men for every century since the printing press' invention valued the knowledge held in literature. It's not an entertainment medium, it's the most efficient way to impart knowledge from one man to another. retards today have no fucking humility and can't comprehend they could stand to learn anything from their betters. airport tier nonfiction doesn't count (freakonomics, guns germs and steel, any cancer malcolm gladwell has put out etc), people only read that garbage to pretend to read
