Personally I find a dual monitor setup superior because

>physical separation allows free positioning, for example I can turn the second monitor vertically to read while looking at other stuff horizontally

I have one 21:9 2560x1080 screen

it is many times better to gayme on in certain games as you get much better field of view

Because displays are changing so frequently currently, It's a bit foolish to buy one for the sake of upgrading. Buying one, as opposed to 2x 1080p monitors because your current monitors flaked out, is practical, but doing so when you already have a monitor setup that suits your needs, not so much.

The format isn't fully supported by all games, curved screens are retarded, the only media you're likely to get in that format are movies - which are better viewed on a sufficiently large TV/projector screen, similarly low DPI to any other regular monitor and the work area advantage can be achieved by simply using multiple monitors, which also allows you more flexibility.

Basically they're a gimmick, they don't really do anything better than other options on the market, I can only imagine that people buy them for the novelty and the "premium" air around such expensive products.

3440x1440 is slightly better than 1080p-tier. The difference is visible but minor, you still see very significant aliasing and it's not high enough for things like fonts to really look any nicer. You need to see something like 1920x1080 @ 15" on a good screen or 3840x2160 @ 27".

People can go dual ultrawide. It's possible to have the best of both worlds. It's on my to-do list.

Just use a triple monitor stand for dual ultrawides. And have a big enough desk of course.

Triple ultrawide monitor stands also exist, but they're uncommon and more expensive.

2560x1080 monitors in my opinion are made obsolete by 2560x1440 monitors (excluding in gayming performance).

Because it's only good for FPS gayming and most games dont even scale properly.
