It may have an industrial use but for the common people, next to nothing.

what is wrong with your brain, that caused you to formulate, write down, and share that sentence with the world

Oculus + Touch combo got a 200$ price drop 5 days ago

It could be neat for simulators. it's cheaper than having to build a whole cockpit.

vr is a meme

It's for distracting beta nu-males while the bull does its job with their wives.

It will end up getting a lot of use in certain industries. They're already doing virtual walk-throughs in factories when shit breaks down so they don't need to fly an engineer out to some plant in the middle of nowhere so he can tell them that something very small/simple is fucked. Also, in emergency situations where people work very remotely (oil platforms, northern mining operations) some surgeries can be done remotely using the same kind of tech. Sure, it's a little more risky to do it like that, but if the guy is guaranteed to die in the amount of time it would take for an emergency vehicle to reach him, it's better than doing nothing.

But the thing is, that isn't VR. That's just using the technology as a way to project 3D images from one place to another, the other place actually exists, there's no 'virtual' aspect of it. So while the technology does have it's uses, I don't think the "VR" stuff will ever have as much practical usage as the remote control features of it.

current VR, no.

HMDs in general, of course.

It's pretty cool, but we need better pixel density and higher resolution screens (plus the gpus required to power them).

It's just a fad that retards bought into. This has been tried before and flunked every time.
