Assuming we have unlimited power/power is not a problem, and all equipment has already been configured and set up for use, why do we need people to maintain the availability of telecommunications and internet services (with the exception of troubleshooting, help desk, repairs etc.)? What stops machines from replacing humans when it comes to working in an ISP or phone company branch from a technical standpoint, and not dealing with people i.e. call centres, receptionists etc.?

So if in a perfect world, there were no issues such as upgrades, repairs etc., places would run themselves?

Drives fail. Fan motors fail. Power supply caps fail. CPUs fail too, eventually. Air con units fail. Fibre lines get cut by workmen. Pipes leak, damaging equipment. Fires happen, damaging equipment and requiring the halon to be recharged. Buildings need security guards. Need I go on?

What is even your question?
>In a perfect world where cars are indestructible and never break, would there be car mechanics?

I was just thinking of how long an ISP server farm/provider would carry on if all the workers were left, but things like power, coolant etc. were supplied continuously
And if machines could replace jobs like that any time soon
