How much would Linux cost?
>>
>>59253644
5x as much as Macs.
>>
>InTune and SCCM

Fucking why?
>>
Why is everyone too stupid to just install Ubuntu and call it a day?
>>
>>59253900
Nobody is too stupid to just install Ubuntu. Corporations just like to have somebody to point fingers at when things go wrong and nobody will let them do that for free.
>>
>>59253644
nothing if you set aside the costs of maintaining said infrastructure (electricity, internet, etc)

>>59253900
Many intelligent large-scale enterprises use Debian, which Ubuntu is derived from.

Downside is that they have to dedicate employees to configuring and maintaining the infrastructure. With Windows and OSX, it's as straightforward as possible so it isn't hard to train people to do that and waste a lot of time.
>>
>>59254060
Support and maintenance is the bulk of costs.
>>
>>59254060
>With Windows and OSX, it's as straightforward as possible
Ho I see that you have already played with group policy.
sarcasm
That's why RHEL and SLES exist.

The former being used by the majority of the US Military and Defense with the latter being popular with old farts running compute and FORTAN
>>
>>59253644
100x as much. To get anything working, a company would need a team of Linux developers to write software and fix all the broken shit.

That's why no one uses Linux in enterprises.
>>
>>59253644
Why dont they include the cost of imacs, macbook pros, air, ipads.. etc
>>
>>59254522
>Linux in enterprises.
Linux in business

The Enterprise is a ship.
>>
>>59254550
because hardware costs are fucking nothing to a business

This is why devops is a thing.

>That's why no one uses Linux in enterprises.

In porn industry for sure.

>>59254633
wtf did they smoke?
>>
>>59253865
because it's not 1990 and nobody seriously wants to sysprep and ghost and try to manage licensing with or without KMS - if you've ever done a large scale M$ trueup you know what this means.

>>59254018
this is surprisingly correct

we use Linux as little as possible however there are some things where it's better. IIS is better than apache simply for AD integration and you're paying for CALs anyway.

squid for proxy, nagios, databases, but for anything business critical even if you do use linux you use it through a 3rd party provider so you can sue someone for SLA violation and losses in the event of an outage. why do people use Oracle and DB2 instead of postgres? Why use checkpoint and sonicwall when iptables exists? same deal
>>
>>59254715
running shit on servers =/= running shit on desktops that devops people use.

that's why almost every devops guy in Silicon Valley uses a Mac.
>>
Linux is for pot smoking, cuck enabling, Bernie bros who can't afford a real computer but still want to be contrarian. Windows is for pencil pushing office drones. MacOS is for high energy alpha males.
>>
Red Hat shouldn't be that much for business use.
>>
>>59254633
this bothers me

1. hardware + business support = x
2. (servers + server licensing) / # of users= y
3. any per user licensing or per device licensing to use servers

I consider it hard to swallow claims like this when these companies DELIBERATELY MAKE IT FUCKING IMPOSSIBLE TO TELL IF YOUR LEGALLY LICENSED. so when marketing is like "this is cheaper" I would rake a salesperson over hot coals before even considering this. Also what about re-training costs for user and understanding of capability. ecosystem integration costs. Then what if you need to run software not supported by Mac? vm and pay windows licensing costs anyway?
>>
>>59254869
Because burger education. Outside US MBP isn't that popular.
>>
>>59254883
Trump east a bucket of chicken with a knife and fork. He doesn't know how to use a computer and his son in-law met with Russians.
>>
>>59254965
No shit, the computing market outside of the US has always been about cheaper shit because nobody can afford anything actually good.
>>
>>59254965
>Outside US MBP isn't that popular.
Toilet paper and running tap water also isn't popular outide the US, fucking pajeet.

And get off /g/ you low-IQ foreign piece of shit.
>>
>>59254965
Tech industry is shit outside the US too.
>>
>>59254883
Trump is a nigger in white skin.

Of course he would want something as gaudy as iHomo laptop
>>
>>59254998
Wut? I can buy a new MBP every 3 months and I live in the fucking Balkans.

Must have something to do with cheap food and housing.
>>
>>59254931
It's not apple marketing it's from IBM's own calcs. They're moving to macs.
>>
>>59254965
Outside of the US, Windows XP is still popular and Germans can't handle Linux. The rest of the worlds opinions should be automatically discarded.
>>
>>59255121
What about ching chongs and russian hackers?
>>
>>59255052
>Wut? I-
Stopped reading already. Don't try to project your unverifiable life on an entire continent, the sales trends are pretty demonstrable especially in Europe that was still using cassette tapes for data storage while most of the US market was ordering systems with at least floppy drives if not a hard disk. You shits have always been poor or mentally conditioned to buy garbage for poor people even though you can afford better, while thinking yourselves enlightened for it.
>>
>>59255193
But tapes are better long term storage than HDDs.
Denser too.
>>
>>59255226
You forgot
>slower than shit
Cassettes didn't even have any of those other points anyway, they were terrible.
>>
>>59256025
>>slower than shit
Yeah, but that's why you got filesystems that have good sequential performance and store similar filestypes on tape to minimize random reads, they're only used when needed, they're for storage and chucking away somewhere dark and damp until it's needed. In short, backups, Google, Amazon, Cisco and company still use them for a reason.
>>
>>59255021
Yep, you belongs here.
