Nuclear power thread
Why doesn't your country use nuclear power? Has it fallen for the renewables meme?
The Koreans do it cheaply, quickly, and safely.
Have some Russian nuclear power boat

I would not call KHNP's Shin Kori 3 & 4 cheap or quick.

>my national pride comes from technology used by people i dont know
rly meks u fink

$3500/kw is pretty good, and Units 1 and 2 went up pretty quick
3 and 4 were sloppy
Great Idea! I wish Nuclear was still an option in USA, but the lack of a disposal chain has made it impractical. All our Nuclear Plants are storing their own waste onsite, kinda scary, especially since the Federal Government promised Yucca Mountain 15 years ago...

The three people that live near Yucca Mountain got butthurt about the plan and it got shut down

Also, Westinghouse/Toshiba's $6.3 billion writedown on V.C. Summer 2 & 3 and Vogtle 3 & 4 does not bode well for a future of the AP1000 design.

Shoulda gone ESBWR or buy Russian

If only we could update our 50-year-outdated policy, we could re-process waste like the French. Or at least entoumb it in glass. There are so many opportunities, but Chernoybl and Fukishima have the limelight...
Where do I learn about nuclear energy and technology?
Seems interesting honestly

fee-fees, governments don't last long enough to deal with this shit, solar becoming increasingly competitive
>>59245257
Travel back in time and get a full ride scholarship with EVERYTHING included, that means housing and food etc. Youll do this because the US govt has no one who knows shit about nuke shit so they are handing out nuclear related degrees to jumpstart. Tahts how.
Because we have mountains and tons of water.
Actually we do have some nuclear and we also buy some power from France. Basically we release water out of the mountains during the day to produce hydro power and sell our excess at a high price to Germany and France. Then at night we buy power from France at practically zero cost because they have excess power at night and we pump the water back up into the mountains.

My country does use nuclear power.
I'm about 60km from the Fukushima Daiichi plant.
I used to be a big supporter of nuclear but now that there are two huge areas of the earth that are no longer habitable because of nuclear I now think renewables are the way to go.
Are molten salt reactors all they are cracked up to be?
They sound great but there has to be something about them (other than the investment in water reactors and their fuel). And I'm not talking about the corrosion and other issue that are solvable if they just invested more into it.
