Millions of dollars.

For each unit? Depends on the smartphone, but most $600-800 flagships are about $300-400 if you include the materials and labor. The screens, storage, and CPUs are the most expensive parts. Some of the cameras on Sony and Samsung devices are a bit pricey too. But if you want to include the R&D, factories, and tools then we're talking hundreds of millions of dollars. I'm a Ford engineer and our profit margin on each unit is only 5-8%. The tech industry is just swimming in money.

>According to a teardown carried out by IHS Markit, a 32GB iPhone 7 that retails for $649 costs Apple only $219.80 in components, with manufacturing adding another $5 to the price.
Probably cheaper with a bulk discount of x units.
