I know nothing about the movement, but aesthetically, I like it.
What do you guys think, worth saving up for?
>>59240032
If you like the styling, then yes. The DUW 3001 is a pretty neat truly in-house ultra-thin automatic movement. Just be careful that they all wear much larger than you think due to being all dial and having g long lugs.
What do you reckon to pic related?

>>59240964
A pair of running shoed that won't fuck up your feet costs ~$80 minimum, and the impact on your foot and joint health is greater at higher prices (although admittedly not by much). A watch that won't fuck up telling time is like $25, and any extra money is for fashion and/or autism.

>>59241185
Wouldn't it follow that another design that has been around for four centuries would be much cheaper than the thing in my apparently fat hand? Where is this 'quality' added?
Why are Swatch trying to market automatics to normies?
It's iinaccurate and non hacking, surely normies will hate it, they're used to quartz watches that keep good time.
>>59241229
>literally knowing nothing about shoes
>>59241277
Mechanical is seen as a luxury that you can charge more for even though its objectively worse at keeping time.
>>59241286
>>/fa/
>>59241141
First of all, $400-$80=$320. Second, there are objective improvements in quality/cushioning/ergonomics up to around $140. Full retardation doesn't set in until the $150 mark imo, especially if the person is actually playing sports/running in them. It is still retarded to spend $400 on a pair of shoes if you aren't a high level marathon runner, but let's not pretend an expensive watch is anything other than a frivolous luxury purchase.
>>59241234
I don't have sausage fingers, and I guess that is something I just have to deal with
>>59241277
Why do you think hacking matters in this sense? Point hour hand where it needs to point, and minute hand where it needs to point.
Second hand is pretty inconsequential to most people.
>>59241312
>let's not pretend an expensive watch is anything other than a frivolous luxury purchase.
It's still more worthwhile that literal bits of cotton woven by someone in Bangladesh.
A watch is a mechanical machine that will last a lifetime. A pair of trainers is a bit of fabric that will be broken in a year.
>>59241336

Try running or playing any sport regularly in a pair of $50 vs $400 shoes. Your knees and ankles will feel the difference. Regardless of the price of raw materials in the shoes, the extra money yields a real, objective, valuable benefit (improved comfort, ergonomics, and injury prevention, leading to more enjoyment of one's athletic activities). Meanwhile, you can tell time just the same on a cheap Casio watch, which also lasts for a very long time.
>>59241600
>Try running or playing any sport regularly
Where do you think you are?
>>59241600
More like $50 vs $150. $400 trainers are the rare Nikes or whatever minorities collect. Now, $400 boots or dress shoes? That's when you're getting good shit.

Like, simple looking, automatic, water resistant to one degree and with date?
>>59250034
dont buy hamilton again
>>59250020
>can't even quote properly
Christ you're dumb. I won't even bother to look up the other post you think is me, you're literally a retard.
>tfw excessive Homos shilling confirmed causing irreversible brain damage
You're probably a manlet too.
>>59249885
>100 y/o tech
there isnt very much to really r&d but it isnt 100 years old, but it still takes a lot of time to design a watch movement from scratch and then develop a factory line and production process. so thats what you're paying for.
>>59250096
it was a gift and i think they look quite nice
>>59249885
No, I said Nomos wearers are aesthetically retarded.
>>59250113
>Retreating into mindless diversionary shitposting
That'll be enough of you then.
>>59249885
>But, wait, R&D? Isn't this 100 year old technology?
you mean like the internal combustion engine?
>>59250289
Alright, see you next time when anyone mentions your favorite shitty brand.
>>59250333
Those are slightly more complicated than a watch movement
>>59250347
>Favorite
You are the poster child for utter mindless /g/ shitposters. It doesn't even occur to you that someone might argue a position because they believe it to be empirically true and not just because they have developed an irrational tribal allegiance to certain brands and feel compelled to shitpost about competing brands like a fucking mindless chimpanzee flinging shit at a neighboring troupe. I have no interest in dealing with any more of your mindless autistic screeching, thanks.

Cool pocket watch
>>59250532
You've really got my noggin joggin' on how I should pay thousands extra for Jewish Bauhaus dogshi... haute horlogerie because they've designed the movements in their upmarket Daniel Wellingtons to be bette... equal to ETA movements.
I have a Nomos. There's nothing I dislike about it and it's my most frequently worn watch.
>>59250808
Not like you have much competition there
http://forums.watchuseek.com/f29/big-sale-affordable-invictas-aragon-new-watches-added-3929818.html
Woof, what a pile of shit this guy is trying to offload.
>>59250034
Do you just want the same watch again? What's wrong with yours?
>>59250837
That guy has a very unique "taste"
>>59250532
>>59250837
Holy shit. He literally has the worst taste in watches of any man alive. I'm almost impressed at how hideous those all are. Even more terrifying is that he has succeeded in selling some of them!
>>59250837
That is legitimately the worst collection I've ever seen.
...And he's selling it all to get a Squale.
>>59250988
>...And he's selling it all to get a Squale.
I'd say that's the best part but it's not surprising in the least
>>59250837
Why would anyone hoard so much tasteless, huge, heavy as fuck dogshit? At least with slavshit hoarding you can wear them without looking like you have a spinal deformity with all the weight pulling down your left arm.
>>59250837
Aside from being total dogshit I would never buy seeing the watch on the current owners filthy wrist is an instant dealbreaker for me. I don't need to see that shit.
It's like trying to hook up with a girl, but she sends you pics of her previous bf fucking her and blowing a load on her face.
>>59251079
>It's like trying to hook up with a girl, but she sends you pics of her previous bf fucking her and blowing a load on her face.
It's not quite that bad, but I get your point

>averaging on 50mm diameter
holy shit
Is there anything meaningfully different between the seiko 4r36 movement and 6r15?
I will be getting a watch with the 6r15 and already have a 4r36. Beat rate and features like hacking and handwinding seem the same.
>>59251377
Better main and hair springs for improved PR and timekeeping

what's the matter, wristlet? can't handle a real man's watch?

Nice Christopher Ward homage.

That looks like a child's toy, a replica of some movie prop.
>>59251495
>nite
Couldn't they have given their watches a less cringey name?
I am baffled by invicta collectors
>>59251495
Are those tritium bars instead of tubes?
cop or not? if not, what are some good minimal watchs?
>>59251732

>>59251732
Overpriced for a quartz watch from a not-so-respected company (made in china), but if you like the look, why not
Or go look Hamilton, Orient, or even Timex...
>>59251705
yes
>>59251808
Sounds petty but I hate the backwards D.
>>59251732
Just get a cheap piece of shit from aliexpress.
http://s.aliexpress.com/ZbiqUvMr
>>59251871
Might look good on photos, but it will feel like a fucking toy, trust me..
>>59247691
That's a picture of the internals. Automatic watches just look like regular analog watches, but they self-wind as you move them about. Pic related is my automatic watch.
>>59251895
So does a denzel washington or skagen
i dont know much about watches, but ive always liked the movement of the second hand
ive tried google, but any idea whats it called?
>>59251732
take a look at the orient bambino line

Thoughts on pic related?
>>59252332
Is that comfy?
The only thing is it kinda looks like water stained leather
Objectively superior.
>their watches just tell the time

Sailcloth, rubber, nato...

>>59252506
>he has to plug in his watch every day
>>59252406
I haven't gotten one but from what I have read it feels like leather but doesn't soak up water
>>59252089
If you mean the fact that the second hand motion is more smooth than a standard quartz watch, that's often referred to these days as a sweep second hand, even though originally a sweep second hand meant a second hand that was mounted in the center of the watch (concentric with minutes and hours), which is more challenging to make than the traditional small seconds hand on a sundial.
Should i buy a tool to open the caseback on my SKX013 with a loose rotor and fix it myself or just send it to any batterymonkey "watchmaker" on my shit ass subhuman town?
What colour strap goes well with a white dial?
What strap do you have your seagull 1963's on anons?
>>59253480
Mother of pearl
Watches as watches lost all their relevance when people started carrying phones.
If you are buying watches because muh movements just kill yourself.
Buy a nice, "cheap" quartz watch for style.
>>59253480
White or cream?
Black always works.
>>59253618
It's funny how you almost had the right arguments and yet managed to fuck that up.
>>59253401
Batterymonkey "watchmaker" here. If it's just a loose rotor then do it, all you need is a flathead screwdriver, and not being a retard.
Though the rule of thumb is if it unscrewed on its own once, it might unscrew again. Hope it's just that the Malaysian who assembled it just didn't tighten in enough, and not bad QC.
>>59253690
I guess it's more of a cream.

>>59250362
Sorry, I posted to early
How did you come to this conclusion, and did you not understand what his point was? Even if it was more complicated that would not matter to his point.
Reminder the sistem51 is Swiss and therefore better than nip shit seiko
>>59254038
This, of course, being why the Swiss had to suspend all chronometer trials in the 1960s when Seiko began to utterly crush their specially built ringers with regular production models.
It's also why the Swiss remain so afraid of being embarrassed into bankruptcy by Seiko that TO THIS day they structure all objective criteria watchmaking competitions to specially exclude Seiko.
Srs tho the sistem51 is worse than chinkshit not even they solder the movement together and use a plastic fork and escapement
How can swatch live with themselves?
>>59254378
They probably console themselves with their huge pile of money
>>59254378
>>59254439
What do you think? I want to get it and it'll be my one and only and some day pass it down and such. I have savings and such. Sure saving money is cool, saving retirement fund that you may or may not ever see is cool too. But I feel like once in a while, to commemorate your special life event or juncture, splurge on something valuable isn't bad either. Unless you're too poor to have any kind of luxury then too bad, get back to work.
>>59254495
lmao you need to have sex to have someone to pass it down to
>>59254551
Lol, forgot to mention that I knocked up a chick. It's a boy so that's good. I can pass it down.
>>59254551

Putting it like that makes you sound like a real stand up guy that's ready to be a father
