I'm building a new pc. Is there a difference between having RAM installed as 1x16 or 2x8? Is there a benefit to having two sticks of RAM?

Here's what I have so far.

Getting larger module capacity increases your expansion options (e.g. with a 4 slot board and 16GiB modules you get a max of 64GB) while smaller module size but at least 2 modules will allow you to utilize dual channel (i.e. more bandwidth).
