/dev/xvdb 33T 17T 17T 50% /media/raid

Nope, seems to be fine, recently doubled the disk count for that raid.
>>
>>59239421
what are you doing for your raid?
I have never seen xvdb for a disk name before
>>
>>59241804
xvdb is a virtual disk inside the xen domU. I use mdadm in dom0 to keep the raid setup more or less untouchable from within the VM (which has network access and serves as a "NAS", while the dom0 has not). On the disk itself, there is btrfs with an extensive use of snapshots.
>>
>>59236303
It's because you store so much of your shit tier waifu, Isaac. For fucks sake.
>>
>>59241844
>btrfs
what raid level? I also assume you have never had problem with it. I have been considering using it to replace my current raid60 because it has the transparent error checking.
>>
>>59241898
As I said, I am not using the btrfs-raid. I do not consider that part of btrfs as reliable enough.
I am using a raid6 with mdadm, and slammed a plain btrfs without any volume management or raid onto it.
>>
>>59241918
ahhh, i see. So you are using btrfs for mostly just the snapshots. interesting....

>>
>>59241929
Well, and its build in transparent compression. The usecase is just a long term storage for all types of media, so there is no demand on high performance, and, to be honest, no life-dangering demand for fault tolerance (but it would be pretty sad if that data would be lost). I am just a data hoarder, and this setup was a result of what seemed best when creating it.

I am also not really happy with my virtualization setup, but too busy to change it right now.
I'd love to have a look into object storage like ceph, to allow for scaling in a comfy way, but I do not find any ressources on how to set it up, so that needs to be put aside for now, too.

The meme you people fell for isn't picking the wrong brand, it's assuming that you should care about picking the better brand for reliability. Don't trust Seagate *or* Western Digital to make a 100% reliable drive, use backups and redundancy.
>>
>>59236303
I filled my old 1TB drive up multiple times. And then it broke and I had to move to a 500GBs one, which as you might imagine, is constantly filled to the brim.

Tho recently I managed to free about 50-60GBs by deleting some gaymes.

You see, all my seagate failed.
I swear by Black WD for years ever since '06.
Hell, it is still up and running in my machines.

Y'know what? They're in raid too in redundancy if ever something bad happens.

N.O.N.E failed yet. I'm quite lucky.
They're my backup though, so there's not much overwrite over the years, which helps.

Basically, every HDDs are good enough.
Just don't overwrite them like a fucking retard all the time.
