That's a good thing. It makes sure they're working because they enjoy it and not for the money. You don't want people who lost passion for their niche to be at your company, especially top level engineers. Google is probably the only employer who can afford to pay their employees so much that they only continue working because they like it.

This is true. Employees (especially engineers) don't give a fuck unless they have a share in a business. That's the only way to ensure people keep working as best as they can to serve the interests of the company.

Its ultra hard to motivate your managing staff that has a networth that exceeds 100M+ on a daily basis but thats why Berkshire Hathaway is so good.
