The way Google has been using CAPTCHA lately has me 100% positive that Google is going to be the company that brings forth all of our notions of AI from sci-fi.

We've had the algorithms all along - I have books from the 70s that detail machine learning algorithms still in use today - but we never had enough data to have it work well enough.
Google is getting literally billions of samples a day to feed it.
