Was I retarded for buying one of these in January 2016?
>>59224168
no, it's pretty much an rx480 with more power needs.
And considering AMD is jewing us up with the rx5 series, I'd say there's not much of a difference between the two after all.

I have one and I'm very happy with it.
I bought it at launch becuase it was the most powerful card with full AMDGPU support that didn't need me to chop off my leg to buy (Fiji).
Driver support has been really good, it pushes good frames in nearly everything I want, even DOOM 1080p 75fps Ultra.
I might have paid more for it than I should have, as the price dropped pretty fast, but I'm still really happy with it.
It will work really well as the boot primary for VGApassthrough (when Ryzen UEFI gets fixed....), as it sips virtually no power at idle.

Yes. 3rd gen AMD cards actually did worse than 2nd gen in benchmarks.
Personally I've been using a 280x since 2013 without any issues.
>>59224168
Yes. You could've gotten a second hand gtx970 or 290x for the same money, both of which are ~30% faster than the 380x.
>>59224168
Well, yes.

AMD is best company. They they just stupid at times with marketing and keeping their releases on time. The new risen beats Intel and half the price.
>>59224168

>>59224264

The Nitro 380X performs about 10% worse than the (not Nitro) Sapphire RX 470
>>59224168
Unless you got it for $40, yes
>>59224168
Oh yes. Totally
