My wi-fi adapter is showing #2 after it's name despite it being the only one connected.

Can anyone tell me how to rectify it?

Windows does this stupid shit if you move the adapter to a different usb or pci slot. Move the adapter back to its original slot and the "#2" will go away. To truly get rid of it, though, you'll have to edit the registry.
