Unlike C where you play with the minimal basics and need 4000 lines of code to do anything, Java has a gigantic sdkand tons of other libraries that you cannot learn by heart.
IDEs aren't used to hold your hand in writing the language but in finding external classes and their methods to call, and large-scale refactoring
