The 1080 is basically a souped up Fermi. Only major changed is the tiled rendering management and automatic culling that cut down power usage with Maxwell.

The 1080 should have been this way at launch last year, and the Titan X Pascal should have been what the 1080Ti is, and at the prices they're at. At this point, who cares? Just more stalling from Nvidia while they work on their secret upcoming arch.

I'm waiting for Vega and Volta. Actual new architectures that games are going to be based around for 5+ years instead of buying old architecture stretched out and overclocked to its last legs.
