Remember when everyone on /g/ pretended they did a ton of video editing?
>>59213036
like yesterday I remember that.
I am buying Baby Lake.
>>59213036
Yeah everyone on /v/ started to pretend now that they are doing "work" lmao
Not to mention it doesn't even do that well in video editing when you having fucking CUDA
Wait, but I do
wait... I don't go on /g/
>>59213242
to add on to this
why would I spend 500 dollars on an 1800x and 200+ on a mobo when I can just throw a 1080 in my PC and be done with it
>>59213036
I re-encode tons of memes to webm so yes.
Did anyone actually expect Ryzen to have better single threaded performance than the best intel chips?
I mean seriously, how deluded would you have to be to believe that.
Actually now that I remember, I recall telling people months before ryzen came out how they were retarded for thinking single threaded performance was going to match or be better than- and I said they should be expecting an 8-core ivy bridge.
Which is roughly what we got.
Ryzen is EXACTLY what I was expecting, so I'm pleased.
But as usual, /g/ hyperbole just ruins everything
>>59213268
webm encoding can be done with a toaster from sears
>>59213263
1080 is going to cook itself in 2 years that's why
>>59213271
the AMDumbfucks overhyped it
so the intel shill will overrubitintheirface
They literally shit up the board for two months touting it as skylake tier, people were fed up
>>59213285
No it won't
>>59213036
I remember when we used to pay more for less
>>59213319
Yeah
I never did though because I considered them too expensive
But now...
Is Ryzen good at virtualiztion? would it be good at running VMware or using Wine?
>>59213036
I need to upgrade. Video editing on a phenom x4 sucks. Time to go faildozer maybe. There finally getting close to my budget, lol.
>>59213549
yes
>>59213612
Should we send help?
>>59213549
Yes, it has plenty of horsepower for virtualization.
I'm upgrading from a Q9450 core2quad so I'm happy that I actually have a choice that isn't intel.
>>59213263
Why do you feel outspoken enough to blogpost on /g/ about things that never happened to you?
>>59213036
Remember when everyone on /g/ pretended they made real threads?
remember when everyone said that nobody needs four cores and that 2 cores are faster in gayming anyway?
>>59213612
Buy a Lga1366 Xeon from aliexpress.
https://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?SearchText=x5670
Mobos are more expensive, but you should find one for $130 or so.
>>59216290
The benchmarks show that Ryzen's 8 cores are barely better than a dual core Pentium G4560 in gayming.
>>59216342
>lumping lots of wildly varying stuff together
If you do a lot of compiling this is the best CPU on the market.
>>59216369
>s-s-s-stop comparing ryzen to intel :'(
#btfo
>>59213036
/v/iggers pretend to be architects or structural engineers whenever someone brings up GNU/Linux.
>>59213549
Yes, but I seriously doubt you run VM's. OP himself said noone does anything other than gayming after all.
If you weren't so new you'd know a lot of people bought the i7-5820K instead of the i5 6700k
>/v/toddlers projecting
Cute!
>>59216551
The difference is, the 5820k can reach 4.5GHz fairly easily. The 1800x struggles at 4 - 4.1GHz.
>>59216480
>Not sending your compile jobs to a dual chip Xeon workstation
>>59213036
I don't but I would like to. It would just be for mine and my friends' use since I have no delusions that anything I create will be popular on the internet, but it doesn't change that fact.
