Why is Ubuntu Mate so comfy?

Idk but it's always either Ubuntu Mate or Solus for me.

Both are very comfy and nice to use.
>>
>>59203968
because of your mental disorder

>>59204353
Lmao
>>
>>59204165
Solus is a quite interesting project
It looks really nice but the lacking repositories are keeping me from installing it
Also there are only 5 people in the development team
I don't know what to expext from Solus in the near future

>>59204353
Why so much hate?
Tell me specific reasons why Ubuntu Mate isn't as good as i think it is
Just insulting others is grade school niveau
>>
>>59204455
I used Solus for about a month last year. I don't remember much about my experience but the lack of packages got frustrating after a while. I ditched it for Manjaro OpenRC but I might try the MATE edition on a different machine.
>>
>>59203968
Cinnamon is much comfier.
>>
>>59204658
I installed it yesterday on my old laptop to start using it again. Repositories seem a little small, but it's got everything I'm going to use.
>libre office
>midori web browser
>vlc

It's an older laptop so I'm not going to use it for much more than web browsing and multimedia, but it already has pretty much everything I'm going to use on any pc I think.

This quantity of kek, I can't handle it.
>>
>>59204752
>tilling WM.
Meh, i3 isn't too miserable to configure, but setting up the others is a pain in the ass. Been there, done that, I'd only use one again on a laptop.
>>
>>59204726
Cinnamon has a default dark theme.
>>
>>59203968
If they implement a global menu in "mutiny" mode and finally add support for hidpi scaling I will switch to it. I know plasma has these things too but it's still looks worse compared to GTK based DEs with a numix or arc theme to me.
>>
>>59204869
Just like my soul desu
>>
>>59204852

I agree. This is why I'm using i3.

Why so grim, Anon?
>>
>>59203968
It's nice, but i don't like that they're using metapackages. Makes removing useless packages annoying, because you don't know if updates require these metapackages. Couldn't take the risk and installed Xubuntu instead (on a netbook btw).
>>
>comfy
back to r/eddit shitter
>>
>>59204726
Yeah it's great
I was using Mint with Cinnamon but i realized that it's time for me to left Mint behind me

>>59204962
Not my desktop
Just a google image
>>
>>59203968
cos it's not messed about with - they are not trying to constantly re-market it with "features" .. it

JUST WERKS

it's an excellent OS

Don't be like that Anon!

>because you don't know if updates require these metapackages.
No, metapackages are safe to uninstall. They're like a list of programs to install together but they're safe to remove, they're generally removed when you uninstall a component that was installed by the metapackage but the other components installed by it are not removed.

MATE has come a long way. I hopt GTK+ going from 3 to 4 wont mess it up
Maybe they will change over to QT like everyone else is abandoning GTK+
