Is there a better way for CF/SLI than blower style cards(other than costum loop which is pretty which reqiures more money and work)
I used to have a HD6970 Cf setup which was fine but loud at times, then tested 2 R9 290x with aftermarket fans and they just suffocated each other(despite having good airflow) since both blew hot air into the case
I was thinking of say 2 R9 390x (since they are pretty cheap atm) one aftermarket cooled, one hybrid watercooled. Would this work better than both cards dumping thier hot air into the case? If so which card would be on top and which on the bottom.
The reason I brought this two cards as example is cause my mobo can do CF but not SLI. I have no preference, owned both Nvidia and AMD cards depending on which seemed good value at the time of purchase
Also general SLI/CF general

blower cards really are the best option before jumping into water cooling
with crossfire/sli you just kind of have to live with noise, because to get good temps youre gonna have blower cards running at high rpm

That's how far I got, which sucks because if the game utilizes CF/SLI decently two few year old card can be on par or better than the current high end offering.
Based on what benchmarks I saw 2 390x could outperform a 1080ti and can be had for like Ł450
