Almost as though a politician's word isn't good for anything, and you should be evaluating them based on the kinds of people they are and the things they've done.

Trump displayed all the warning signs of being an incompetent dumbshit at best and a malignant fascist at worst, and, lo and behold, that's exactly what we got.

If you voted for Trump, you're a fucking idiot. I don't care why you did it. He's doing so much damage to every positive aspect of United States society -- and there weren't many left to begin with.

No one has addressed the argument that the "net neutrality" everyone is flinging shit over did absolutely nothing to prevent price gouging of consumers. Consumers are the small fries in the equation. The cable company is happy putting data-caps on you and charging for overages which they were already doing under these rules.

The "net neutrality" rules just prevented ISPs from shaking down other corporations for excessive use of the infrastructure. This ruling is bad news for amazon and netflix but most likely won't do shit to your home internet pricing beyond the increases they already had planned.
>>
Republicans and trump are shitting it up for all americans that aren't the top, yet shills continue to defend this bullshit.

I up to here with this stupidity. How can people defend trump and and his goons? They're to enrich themselves and couldn't give a shit less about the average or low class american.

Okay, so this might be a lot to take in.

The guy in OP's picture started this company called 21 and co, the goal is to literally put a bitcoin miner in everything. He got $120m+ in Venture funding and his idea basically went to shit. They released a "starter" bitcoin miner for developers, developers, developers to "learn" bitcoin. It sold for like $500 and nobody bought it, the thing sold like 3 at most (nobody bought it because someone figured out they could make their own with a RaspberryPI). I don't know what the fuck he is doing with that website now.

This is the product they were selling:

Netflix saved money through the Comcast deal though. Building direct interlinks to last mile ISPs instead of going through a middleman is a already common strategy used by other big internet companies. Netflix just made a big deal about how Comcast wasn't letting them do it for free.

bravo, you've got to the root of the problem -- the government having too much influence over the economy and other areas it shouldn't concern itself with, resulting in crony capitalism among other things

Deregulation isn't an antidote to lobbying and the FCC and other regulatory agencies are needed to provide a latticework of checks and balances. If you think small government does anything apart from streamline corruption and businesses' access to government you have a fundamental misunderstanding of democracy.

The root of the problem is that telecom infrastructure isn't a free market and never will be no matter how hard anyone pretends. You can't just dig up people's lawns throughout the country and start laying your own fiber.
>>

>You just proved to everyone in this thread that it's you whose the radicalized one

That won't be a problem when wirelss technology like LTE will be the standard for last mile connections in the future.
>>
>>59196228

Absolutely.

There are physical limitations in the real World, too. There is only one single shortest route between any two points.

Anyone who owns this route will have a monopoly on the shortest distance.

Natural monopolies are unavoidable. We need government to regulate them.

the problem is that it's a slippery slope, and it's hard to anticipate the harmful side effects. leaving people to their own devices almost always seems to "just work" and generally gives people the right incentives that are more anchored in reality. the more you regulate, the more you take away from people their sense of responsibility and disempower people

>The ISPs say they only want to get paid for the use of their service, but the problem is, they're already getting paid. You pay your internet bill every month. Netflix, Google, Yahoo, the Guardian and Boing Boing all pay their internet bills every month. TheISPsaren't seeking to get paid, they're seeking to get paid twice: once by you, and a second time because you are now their hostage and the companies you want to do business with have to get through them to get to you.

>There's a useful analogy to the phone company that I've written about here before: you pay for your phone service every month. The pizza place on the corner also pays for its phone service every month. When you want to order a pizza from Joe's Corner Pizzeria, you call their number. If their phone isn't engaged, it rings and you get to place your order. If they get more orders than they can handle on one line, they buy a second line, a third, even 10 lines to take their orders. Provided one of those lines is free, your call goes through to someone when you ring.

Let me get this striaght, is this what you are referring to?

Why? It's kinda clear that the people most gov't bureaus (barring a handful) have no idea what they are doing, seeing that our infrastructure is shit, our inner cities are third world tier and Gold King was even allowed to happen. Why would I let the FCC (the agency that censors the radiowaves ad absurdum) have anything to do with the Internet? All they do is censor any medium they have their hands on, especially after 9/11. I'd rather not have that instead of basically everything I watch on Youtube or what not being censored to the point of complete incoherence.
