New package? What could it be? Could I have fallen for a meme?
>>59194728
It's clearly your shipment of single-portion bubblewrap.
>>59194728
Open it already, you nigger.
>>59194728
Well, I got a ridiculous amount of catalog and paper, but also, a name I've heard before...
>a thread had to die for this
>>59194756
But something's slightly different with those last two letters...
>>59194766
... and in fact, it's totally different inside. Replacing the Tripath 2020A+ is instead, a TI TPA3118 lays bare, without a heatsink.
>>59194783
If it's possible to build something more shoddily than the 2020A+, Lepai has succeeded. A tiny amount of output filtering, no speaker protection relay, and nearly nonexistent power supply filtering.
>>59194783
>>59194798
shit dude what is that green fucking mat called I want one
>>59194816
It's called a cutting mat or rotary mat. You can get them on amazon, though they are probably cheaper at a craft store.
>>59194798
One thing hasn't changed: the lie on the power brick.
I'm not going to do measurements on this, they already exist of various very similar models using the same chip. (to summarize, it pretty much outperforms the old 2020A+ in every respect). Instead, I need to install it in something...
>>59194844
And an opportunity arises! Who left this poor powered speaker in such a sad state? It has a continuous 60 hz hum, resets volume when powered on, and picks up the fridge, and now someone disassembled it too?
>>59194878
The text reads: "Patent product, if counterfeit will investigate". I think anyone who counterfeits this is going to have bigger problems.
Most of the chips are from a single manufacturer called boomsound, which has copied an impressive portion of ST's product line, including some special purpose chips that apply effects controlled by I2C. It's too bad that I found most of the 60Hz is picked up from this board. It'll have to go.

And the main amplifier, while certainly one of the more... minimalist class AB designs I've seen, is responsible for the pop every time my fridge kicks in, as well as 20W of continuous power draw.
>>59194970
Instead of posting the datasheet for the BJTs in this kit, I'll instead post the single Glassdoor review as I think it's more informative.
>>59194984
Anyway, time for the moral of the story: you can solve any problem with 3D printing.
>>59195020
>>59195030
I might reprint this later, only had ABS in black which is a bit sensitive to shrinkage. It'll work for now.

The knobs are nicely recessed and clear my desk. A huge improvement.
Only downside is the aforementioned lack of speaker protection relay means there is a POP when power is turned off.
