Jesus fucking christ /g/. I just picked up the dell xps 15 and the brightness on this screen is RETARDED. Why the fuck is Dell trying to blind their customers?
Other than that, probably the best laptop i've ever owned.

Tried one the other day. Keyboard is shit. Touchpad is mediocre. Bezels look weird as fuck.
6/10 would not buy.
>>59190387
The keyboard is above average, but the touchpad is shit. Bezel looks fine.
But:
>15" 4k touch screen
>i5-7300
>gtx1050
>256gb SDD
>(((8-10 HOURS BATTERY LIFE)))
>easily up-gradable RAM and Storage
It's a powerhouse of a daily driver for $1300 USD
>15 inch
>4k
why though?

I've always been put off by the bezel since its bigger on the bottom.
Keyboard was too shallow for me.

Do you enjoy being able to see individual pixels on your screen?
>>59190548
yeah I didn't even notice that about the bezel until you mentioned it. yeah it is a little strange but having it at the bottom isn't too bad. I'd much rather have a larger bezel at the bottom than at the top
out of curiosity, what laptop do you like best?

why not

Well I'm pretty happy with my current laptop, pic related, except for the cooling. I've got the black model though.
Things I don't like about it
>keys are shallow (still less shallow than the xps I tried though)
>external battery blocks air ventilation, causing it to go up by almost 10°c when in use and fan ramps up much more
>manual switch for gpu not supported on Linux at all
>can't update drivers because of the manual gpu switch
Other than that it's a solid laptop.
>i7 2620m
>HD6630m
>8GB ram
>good touchpad
>16:10 screen bright enough for use outside (sad that it's tn though)
>11-13 hours battery life
But as for the laptops I like best, currently it'll have to be those low end cherry trail or Apollo lake netbook style ones. The keyboards aren't too small but it kills me how shallow they are, performance is good enough for me since I use my desktop for anything demanding, battery life is amazing, and many of them have an IPS display, either 1366x768 or 1920x1080 which I'm fine with at that size.
They're amazing for the price. I have one (t100ta) and it's pretty nice. My only major complaint is the keyboards. Way too shallow, almost no travel depth.

the cherry trail netbooks seem cool, but still not powerful enough
I've tried the MSI stealth series, most of which are complete overkill, but I think they had the best feeling keyboards I've tried so far (out of what they had at microcenter)

They're powerful enough for web browsing, multimedia, office, and beginner programming.
Or at least my bay trail is. Cherry trail should be even better.

Dell shill. Really? "XPS is muh too bright! I can't figure out the brightness-down hotkey."
