>mfw Kaby Lake feels more like a sidegrade than an upgrade from my i5 4570 from 2013
i mean there are a bunch of other things your probably should've updated first
everybody knows CPUs aren't the current prominent bottle neck in most modern enthusiast builds

It's just that I bought an itx case and buying an 1151 mobo feels like a waste, but I guess I'll have to do it anyway due DDR3 becoming obsolete.
>>59186581
ur still using ddr3? that's prolly part of it. are you still using an HDD too?
who would've guessed?
Oh yeah, everybody, everywhere, since 2008
>>59186313
Fuck you.
For desktops, that's pretty much what it is since Intel has focused more on getting power consumption down than bringing performance up.
For laptops, CPUs have been improving because their reduced power consumption means laptops can either get better battery life, or they can get better performance with the same battery life as before. 2/3rds of the computer market is laptops so I don't expect Intel to change their focus any time soon.

retard
you basically should've upgraded every other part of your PC before you got a new processor.
>>59186313
>not buying ryzen

Is there anyone who unironically doesn't use a SSD just for the OS?
>>59186883
>implying i'll wait for a physically spinning disc to be able to launch applications and open huge work files
HDDs are the single biggest bottleneck and liability in modern pc building

also
>being too poor to store your work on the cloud
what kind of pleb-y shit are you trying to spread my dude?

>/g/ tells me Intel never improves and they keep rereleasing 2500k's
>My dual core Kaby Lake 15 watt CPU matches a stock 2500k

read/write speeds aren't a meme
SSDs aren't anywhere near the price/gb ratio of HDDs, but now a 256gb samsung evo can be had for $90
it is worth it if you're on a laptop, but I realize that isn't the premise of this thread.
SSD + external HDD is awesome though, best of both worlds
>>59187134
the "best" of an HDD is low price, which you don't have if you buy both an SSD and HDD
>>59186806
are you really stupid enough to think that HDDs don't cause a huge dip in overall performance?
there's a reason people shell out so much god damn money for them, they aren't stupid unlike your dumb poor fag ass
