ITT we unironically worship Stallman
There several tiers in this thread:
>GNU GOD: HIS HOLINESS GNU/RMS
>Saint of the church of emacs - has cleansed all of the proprietary software from his computer including proprietary firmware. Lets not kid ourselves you are using a thinkpad for emacs.
>Prospect - Someone who uses emacs and GNU but have not purged themselves of proprietary software
>liminal - Someone who is aware of emacs but chooses to use unholy vi with their gnu
>subliminal - Doesn't use gnu, or rather is unaware that their livelihoods depend on gnu
>casual - Only uses the proprietary android os
>rich urchin - Does not understand technology. Only owns iphone
>Bottom dweller - Only proprietary flip phone from wal-mart. Garunteed tracked by govt. for using ditchphone
>obselete - does not understand the point of computers. Thinks we should farm again.
I'm having trouble with emacs
I can't find the file to edit the thing, and I can't seem to figure out how to set my default keys to the vi keys.

Blessed are those who use GNU. Blessed are those who use emacs. All who falter from GNU will be forgeven. All who falter from emacs will be forgiven. Amen.

Start with spacemacs, it's recommended for newbies. It comes with evil if you're familiar with vi keys.

I need to find a file to make it stop making the damn windows alarm bell noise every time I scroll to the top or bottom of the page. It goes off ALL the time if you do something which puts the cursor in a specific spot or cancel out of something.

Vim is better than Emacs
Emacs has a webkit based web browser built into it, the source code is literally 260 megabytes, shit like M-x Butterfly exists, it uses unsafe dangerous GnuTLS, the editor is garbage
why would anyone find Emacs to be a superior editor to Vim?
>>59174721
Yes, it's a config that runs on emacs.
>>59174750
emacs is better because it is lisp and is fully reprogrammable at runtime.
Vim must be turned off and back on again to edit it.

Oh cool; now I'll actually look into it for real instead of just implying I might.
Do you not realize that emacs is literally programming kung fu?
