My bill is $100/month and that include a TV package as well.
Regular price on my combo is about ~$250

I heard that they testing DOCSIS 3.1 and will be rolling it out shortly.
A roll out of DOCSIS 3.1 will likely mean they will offer uploads in the range of 100-200mbit/sec

All the other providers rent out OpenReaches network, the 76 mbs packages are using openreaches fibre to the cabinet and then VDSL2 down a phone line, I'm pretty sure virgin media don't rent out any of their network as it's all based on existing cable from NTL before they merged.

comcast blast.
Don't know much about networking or how the
shit is set up in on the grid so excuse my
following poor explanation:

I live on the corner of a fairly populated part of
town and there are fields on the three other
blocks that are part of my intersection. One
day our internet went down and stayed down
long enough for me to get very mad on the
phone for a long time.

A guy came out and
said there's a dedicated cable that isn't going
anywhere, and it was installed to the
telephone polls in case the fields were ever
turned into housing. That cable is plugged
directly into my house and thus we don't
share our potential bandwidth with any of our
neighbors.

What does this actually mean?
Does this mean they just cap our download speed at
150mbps but it could potentially be whatever
that cable can carry?

I think this the pack that has Internet+Phone+TV

My parents pay for this, so I'm fine with it. We really don't need the TV, but that was the package, so they decided to take it all.
>>
>>59185394
Down is ok. Up is trash, yes, but it's pretty much always 10% of the down speed.
>>
>>59185394
It's the way the internet has been designed almost since the beginning. For cable you have to remember that they're also broadcasting TV through their network, so consumer use is very highly skewed towards download rather than upload.
>>
>>59170201
:O
I'm with VM for 100mb and recently it's been dropping to 30. They say upgrades are happening till mid march. This has been happening for 6 months. I've upgraded my package with them for £36 xl tv and 200mb. If this slow shit even goes on for a week after the upgrade, I'm cancelling it.

DMZ+. It's the closest thing there is to bridge mode. I really wish AT&T would lease regular modems instead of the ones with shit-tier integrated routers.

I think it's the way DOCSIS is designed if I'm correct, upload creates way more saturation
>>
>>59188381
It's not a DOCSIS thing.
>>
>>59188605
Yeah it is, it's not as much of a problem for fibre or DSL
>>
>>59188656
No, it's not. Asymmetry is the result of the way the ISPs set up their networks. There is nothing preventing your cable internet connection from being symmetric aside from that.
