They're not. Nvidia and AMD both have their uses in the high performance computing industry as their micro arch for each card is different and suits different tasks better respectively.

Intriguing, tell me more. Vega looked 1080-ish when they showcased it.
Seriously though, considering no one at all is even remotely familiar with 1080 Ti specs, they're full of shit.

You literally cannot use that argument when Vega and Pascal are of the same generation.

Yes, but Vega was also planned for Pascal competition. Radeon technologies group simply decided it would be better to release the more mainstream tech first to buy time (and some much desired funds) to really polish up with Vega.

As someone with a Fury X, if it doesn't cost an arm and a leg, I might actually upgrade.

Maybe if they weren't shit eating cunts I would, I mean, I had a Nvidia card in the past, but no, not with how they've been as of late.

AMD may have had a rocky past in recent years, but I'm confident in the future.
Fury X, aside from overclocking, proved to follow the path I expected from it.

>>
>>59169280
Telling companies to put in excessive amounts of tessellation because their newest cards excel at it, while their previous cards are weak at it... ring any bells? 780Ti ringing any bells?
How about having a hardware scheduler on the 4xx/5xx and then removing it in future cards, before moving onto software scheduling for the 10xx cards? Or the fact that the 480 could run DX12, but disallowing it to do so?
>>
>>59169332
The only time AMD failed to deliver was faildozer.
>>
>>59169285
Yeah, you don't know what the fuck you're talking about either, and thats completely pathetic since its been a known factor since CES.

The controller is not the VRAM. The controller addresses the VRAM, and system RAM, and system storage, and local storage. It increases streaming efficiency so less time is wasted on the GPU loading resources to render them. It can even handle streaming from networked storage.

the average shopper looks at price, buys it then gets an earful from someone like me saying they could have got the same shit (performance wise) used at a thrift shop for $100. It's not my problem, not my money but the average consumer doesn't care about anything but price.
