IT RUNS LIKE A FUCKING CHAMP HOLY SHIT, all I need to do is pop 4GB ram and a larger HDD into it and I'm good to go, but holy dicks this $100 piece of shit is at least twice as fast as my girlfriends $500 laptop

Yeah, I bought a used 7 year old thinkpad and assumed that it would be equal to a new budget laptop of the same price, but no... It surpasses lots of mid range new laptops. I am pretty happy with Thinkpads even with lenovo doing them.
