Google will start hardcoding advertisements directly through content delivery servers on youtube within the next 2 years to combat adblocking. How does that make you feel?

The internet business model needs restructuring
The whole system is fucking flawed

People pay through the nose for monthly broadband, only to be met by paywalls and shit that waters down the experience because oh, we're not letting each individual company dip their hands into our wallets.

Ads that start playing both before and during a video that a customer has paid to view is not okay.
It all started when companies and corporations starting taking over the web, backing us into a corner with their "freemium" services.

fuck companies and their money hungry agendum

the internet was a mistake

I personally don't really understand the use of youtube with a handful of exceptions I simply don't use it. I prefer to read my news and the small handful of times I've needed a tutorial for shit can easily be found elsewhere or in written form with static pictures without some annoying twat trying to get famous.

That's actually my biggest gripe with youtube is all the degenerates clamoring for public attention doing something that literally anyone can do. What's worse is it gives these people power to alter natural trends much like actual celebrities, which being as they are they really don't deserve that power, like most people. And the fact that they're given actual revenue only stands to compound the issue.

Am I the only one here who doesn't hate ads? It's actually a great way for site owners to get some money for their hard work and it doesn't cost me anything cause im not an idiot who wants to buy anything he sees. I only installed an adblocker because so many sites are litterally unusable because of the 45 ads and tracking scripts loading. If they would just make that illegal..

>>

>I only installed an adblocker because so many sites are litterally unusable because of the 45 ads and tracking scripts loading
I hate ads because advertisers poisoned the well. Actually they poisoned the well several times. First there were static banners, which nobody really bothered blocking. Then there were animated gifs. Browsers started including options to turn off animation. Then there were popups. Lots of popups. Browsers started including popup blockers. Then there was flash and autoplay audio and video advertising. Which led to things like click-to-play or just uninstalling flash. Then there was JS tracking, and so we got NoScript and later on uMatrix. Then there were big malvertising incidents. In the whole history of web advertising since the mid-90s ads have been annoying, and whenever users or browser-makers fought back, they made them more annoying still.

And now advertisers and the site owners that are paid by them want me to believe "No, serious, we've mended our ways, we won't violate your privacy or annoy you! pls unblock our ads!"

No. You had a half-dozen chances and you blew all of them. Most of them deliberately. I'm blocking everything, forever. I don't care how unobtrusive or acceptable you think it is, if it's an ad, I'm blocking it. If you're a site owner, too damn bad, bitch at the ad industry, not me. If widespread blocking makes your business model non-viable, that ain't my problem.

I have wondered for a while why YouTube hasn't implemented an ad block detector like tons of sites do where it doesn't play the video when it detects an ad block and forces you to wait a longer period then the ad watching nothing or whatever they would do, I know it's not hard to get past it, but it would deter more people from using it, and they haven't even bothered with that

1.you can skip the ads and enter just in time to catch the start of the movie.

2. they dont interrupt the movie to show ads.

also

3.having prerecorded ads about upcoming movies, playing in a movie theatre before a movie, is a bit different than having an ad about KY intense when all i want is to watch a star trek clip

They already hardcode ads in videos.
There are a group of people who think that they are entitled to make videos for a living, so they have hardcoded ads in their videos. They beg for people to subscribe, press certain buttons on the site and to tell everyone about how great the non begging part of the video was. They read a paper from their sponsor, sometimes in the middle of the video.
And if you are a poor smock, then you also have the "skip in x+number of skips you did" featuring something google controls.
Sometimes they even ask you to press play on the playlist without adblock and just leave the computer to earn money for them.

It is sad really.
If only they could get a real job.
>>
How much money does Google lose to adblockers really? For every person using an adblocker there's got to be at least 20 people who don't.
>>
>>59157420
Site owners shouldn't make money on having a website.
Your shitty comic is not a real job, if you want money for it, don't share it for free.
The mentality that because you spend time on a thing, you should get paid for it is ridiculous.
Something are not meant to be something more than a hobby.
We have more time than any other generation, so much time, we have time to get serious with our hobbies.
I don't get paid to shitpost on 4chan and I am fine with that.

If you don't have something to sell, don't be so surprised when nobody is buying it.
