Well it sure was fun while it lasted.
This is the power of the 1800X $500 Ryzen, it crashes at 4.1GHz.

Its unfortunate that it crashed, but I don't think its hardware caused crash, more like a software one.

Trolling aside, AMD proved that they using live benchmarks not premade videos with unknown setup.

I mean that CPU must been out for testing for 2 days straight (+ stress test before that)

Who gives a shit about overclocking? It's a remnant of eons ago when hackers would attempt to wring every ounce of free performance out of their hardware because it was generally fucking expensive to obtain (orders of magnitude more than today). Nowadays it's nothing more than a fucking dick-waving contest for small penises that want an extra 5fps in cowadooty or whatever at the cost of 100000watts per second and drastically reduced silicon lifetime.

Get a brain morans.

Overclocking is literally the only hope of ever being able to utilize 120hz or greater monitors to their best potential, in even games 3 years old.

Just because you're a faggot doesn't mean everybody is gay.

>>
All memeing aside aren't bsods a normal part of OC'ing?

Some chips can be OC'd to 1GHz, some none at all, and most do 200-400 MHz extra right?

Why is everyone expecting all ryzen chips to be OC'able to 5GHz at 1.2v? This has never been the case for any intel chips.

>>
>>59154448
I've overclocked every build I've ever done for 20 years. Zero hardware failures, not even a hdd. There are some builds that are over 10 years old still being used full time - my sister uses a q6600 2.4ghz @ 3.5ghz and my mom uses an athlon 64 2.2ghz @ 2.8ghz. A Tualatin Celeron 1.2ghz @ 1.8ghz was just recently retired by my aunt - i built that in 2003.

Power is fucking nothing because they still have power savings functions so the overclocked speed is used maybe 10% of the time.

The full system wattage of the A64 system idle is 48w and my i5 3570k @ 4.4ghz idles at 62w. If you can't power a fucking lightbulb kill yourself.

A writer for computerbase is claiming on their forums that they're also crashing when overclocking. It may be a bug in the Ryzen Master software.
Others have stated they have no issue, and are hitting 4.3 to 4.5ghz on all cores without issue. MSI's documentation for some of their boards will auto OC to over 4ghz with the press of a single button. So something is up somewhere, likely the software.

Overclockers are to computers like "cloud-chasers" are to vaping - retards out to push the envelope of how much they can show off their micro-penis to their fellow contemporaries.

I used to overclock before I actually grew up and became an adult and stopped caring for gaymes. Perhaps you should grow up too.

kek, at least your shitposting is entertaining.
I sincerely hope none of you faggots buy *k parts and not overclock. What a travesty.

As long as it turbo-boosts it is already overclocking by itself automatically. This is when manual overclocking should have become a thing of the past, save special occasions like setting a world speed record.

im sorry but no, that's like saying people tuning their cars should have became a thing of the past ever since engine RPM's automatically increased to account for inclines. They aren't similar, and turbo is only useful in specific use cases where only 1-2 cores are being used
>>
>>59157267

Mods we have someone under 18 here.

>>59157653

wow breh, enjoying those extra 3fps?
>>
>>59157701
a 400+mhz oc can actually make the difference between noticeable stutter and barely any at all. Happened with blade & soul back when I was still using a Phenom II, pushed it up from 3.6ghz to 4.0 and some sort of physics calculation must have started finishing just in the nick of time because that was like +15 to my min fps.

anyway >>>/v/

>im sorry but no, that's like saying people tuning their cars should have became a thing of the past ever since engine RPM's automatically increased to account for inclines

"Accounting for inclines" is not why people tune their car so it does not follow that tuners shouldn't therefore exist.

>They aren't similar, and turbo is only useful in specific use cases where only 1-2 cores are being used

Sure but for the vast majority of cases you still get the overclock, and it's a safe overclock. In many games they still don't maximize all cores at once either so the turbo mode would actually be more efficient on your system rather than overclocking everything all the time. Plus you don't have to worry about correct voltages, timings etc etc.

I understand your points but I just think overclocking is the same as cloud-chasing these days. Same with overclocking graphics cards. Been there, done that. Whole lotta trouble for negligible performance gain, imo.

Did you also try boosting your North bridge frequency in the BIOS?

That controls the speed of the memory controller and L3 cache. I did up a 4.1ghz phenom II build for a friend, getting 3ghz North bridge was massive, felt like the thing was almost as fast as my i5
>>
>>59157896
The turbo boost is really insignificant on Intel CPUs, most motherboards for benchmark reasons by default already "correct" the turbo by making the max frequency apply to all cores instead of doing the 1/2/3/4 core frequencies.

they can put literal shit for the TIM in the i7 and it performs better than the latest and greatest amd
>>

I've noticed a strong correlation between people who read and forward all those made up racist Snopes-bait emails to each other and the people supporting AMD because of "stock" reasons. What do these old folks have to prove by spreading all this FUD? Is it a coincidental Red = Republican thing or are they just willfully ignorant?

>ryzen selling point
>unlocked for overclocking
>>
>>59154354
>but overclocking is actually a way to save money

its not cheaper. overclockers buy more expensive components to facilitate overclocking. the money you save going with a stock HSF, plain jane case, non riced out mobo, standard ram, non overkill PSU, etc will more than pay for say a CPU or GPU upgrade that will out perform the OC for the money.

Technology is not 100% reliable when you push it to it's limits or even if you don't.

Technology is complicated.

Dipshits trying to use ANY small mistake as an example of how bad a product is in comparison to another product that literally fucks up just as much (if not more).

You Jewtel faggots are really grasping at straws.
