Hello /g/,
I recently broke my laptop screen and bought an external monitor for it, therefore I am no longer able to bring it with me everywhere,
so I was thinking about getting a netbook for that purpose.
Considering I will be using it very sparingly and just for surfing the net and for trading (MT4 platform), which one would be a good economical choice?

get any x86 chromebook and put some linux on it. i recommend GalliumOS.
windows runs on x86 chromebooks too so if you need it you could install that
if all you need is internet stuff, get the cheapest chromebook you can find, arm works too. and dont swap the OS.
a replacement display for your laptop
Acer B117 with 4GB and 128GB SSD. I've got one, 270 bucks, super solid build, good keyboard, long battery runtime (8h+ on Linux). Medium quality display though, but at that price point one can't be choosy
What type of laptop does he use?
I cannot recognise it.

Dell Precision M4600 workstation laptop, it's not one of the newer redesigned models which is pretty obvious because of the finish on the surface.
Pic is a spot on match and the Precision M4600 as I've owned one myself.
