can i write an operating system in java?
>>59122910
I guess you could if instead of a java virtual machine you had a physical java machine that could boot a kernel using bytecode.
Ate you trying to put this into my mind so I fuck myself up at the boiler room

Assuming you are actually capable of writing an operating system at all.
Running it might be another issue, but nothing would stop you from writing it.

Does that really count when JVM is being run on top of a not-Java microkernel?
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Java_processor
Some retards thought the world was too sane, and created a HISC processor that runs Java bytecode called jHISC.
You can run a complete OS made in Java on this piece of shit.

if indian people are so good for the economy, are excellent professionals, and so good in general, why is india is an open toilet?

Can you poo in loo?
I would be far more interested in an entire OS written in C#.
Systems libraries for interacting with the OS would no longer be buried in a tangling web of C libraries with inconsistent naming and behavior (ala WinAPI) - they would be clean, consistent, and object-oriented.
Writing in a managed language also has its own benefits.

I remember reading about the project, but nothing ever came of it.
I think Microsoft is too afraid of releasing an OS that doesn't have backwards compatibility with older versions of Windows, which is why I don't believe it will ever truly "happen."
