Technologies about windows servers?
I'm transitioning to a new job which mostly deal with windows bullshit so I was trying to get a feel for the ecosystem.
Since it seems /g/ is full of winfags I was curios what you guys use it for and some automation tools and technologies for windows.
With linux I used things like Ansible for automation, nagios over ssh for monitoring and performance metrics and package management in general was pretty sweet deal for installing server software.

SCCM, Powershell

so basically all widnows stuff is some multi thousand dollar, licensed software?
looks like powershell is also dependent on large amounts of nonfree software.
neat I guess.

Just like the expensive 3rd party tools you need to manage large deployments Linux or Mac OS. At least Windows comes with AD and Group Policy.

what do you mean?
only major one i can think of off the top of my head is satellite which is just licensed and supported spacewalk; which is basically just kubernetes, FreeIPA, foreman/puppet, etc.
screw it, I'm just going to nuke this windows server. I don't have any windows cluster to really test with and it appears support for foss tools and windows targets is mediocre or requires entirely rethinking everything I know.
thanks anyhow.

For home server os, I've had very good luck with Windows Home Server 2011. It backs up my client pc's with zero input required from me once each day without fail. All my movies/music/data files shared/streamed though out my house to all devices with zero problems. I can access files/stream content from the server anywhere in the world thanks to built in remote access front end (encrypted to btw). Really only thing lacking is built in backup utility for backing up the server's data but that was easy to fix. Macrium Reflect v6 server edition allows me to backup all data on the server. Supports dynamic, raid, gpt drives/volumes so pretty much as my storage needs grow i'm protected against data loss.
