Myself I have a 2500k with a z68 mobo and the only thing I couldn't get working is USB 3.0 (no support for ASMedia IC's) but that does not really bother me.

Unless you hack windows to bits so it actually has a wm and runs Linux (cygwin and autohotkey), macOS is better.

Using Linux as a desktop is degenerate-core. I've used Debian and Arch for about 3months each and in the end it was a waste of time for a desktop environment.

Unless your running a server, like tinkering, or your work requires it, Linux is not ready to be used as a desktop.
