Try Manjaro

I used Ubuntu for quite a while, until they decided to ruin the GUI.
Switched over to Mint (MATE) and have been happy with it.

It's the only DE without by-default screen tearing, aside from KDE where KDE Neon is much better than Kubuntu. So the only acceptable *buntu is Ubuntu Unity.

that is the most ridiculous thing I've read today but sadly it's true. I feel more comfy in resource-hogging unity than I do in most other DEs for some reason. XFCE still a best and ubuntu-mini still the best *buntu
