In this case with a limited hinge I think it's a gimmick, my touchscreen laptop gets no use except for touching the very corners (like desktop, start, or close), but being a full 2-in-1 laptop/tablet able to go into a portrait mode like >>59105884 it's less of a gimmick
I have both a fixed hinge touchscreen laptop and a 2-in-1 that does the foldy thing, I rarely use the touchscreen but i use it more on the 360° hinge

I own a surface book, sometimes being able to touch something is more convenient than clicking it.

Though I think 14/15 inch 2 in 1s are absolute crap. I think a 12/13 inch 2 in 1 can be useful if it's light and has a high res screen.

non-2 in 1s seem pretty useless to me though.

If your hands are placed on the palmrests and your fingers are hovering on the home row keys, if you're saying it's easier for you to lift your hand (either one) and then reach a few inches to touch the screen than simply dropping a thumb on the Windows key (some keyboards have two, one for each hand for more efficient use) I'm gonna have to call bullshit on that.

But you could just be fucking weird, who knows.
