When can I stop being paranoid about Windows 10?
I've done about everything I can think of to get rid of the bloat. Did a fresh install. Deleted the appxpackage and tile bullshit. Disabled a bunch of services along with the Windows updates.
But, I always feel like shit is going on behind my back. Like, the ethernet port flashes when the computer is off and theres still active services using the cpu when I'm sitting at the desktop doing nothing.
It's a fucking nightmare not being able to trust your own computer.

What laptop should I replace my lenovo y50 with? I originally got it for college/gaming, but after three years I realize I don't like lugging it around campus, and the screen is having problems from carrying it around. Plus having the battery die after two hours blows.

I did a clean install of Windows 8.1, and all it does is get stuck searching for updates. I've tried searching for answers which leads me to try installing certain updates, but it just results in "The update is not applicable to your computer." each time I try every KBwhatever people suggest to download and install. This is a clean 8.1 install with no updates installed whatsoever, and I'd really rather not use 10. Is there anything else I can try?

Would the HD 630 igpu be sufficient for normal use on a 1440p 60hz monitor, or should I add on a cheap gpu like a 460 or something? I've read that it's possible to use the igpu if the mobo has dual link dvi, but would it work fine in all office-use-type circumstances? How about in 5 years (they want this built to last)?

Yeah, intel integrated should be fine. They're getting pretty powerful these days, and it's not particularly difficult to drive normal browsing, even at higher resolutions. They can always buy a gpu later if their needs change, and at the rate gpus evolve you never want to buy one until you're actually ready to use it. Also they're totally right about the "space" thing. A lot of people don't realize that resolution translates into real estate, and 1440 is the bomb for browsing and productivity.

if you want a gaming laptop you need to go with nvidia. Also, you have to keep in mind that cards like the 980ti and 1070 are mostly meant to target 1440p/4k resolutions.
Another thing to note is that generally, any gaming laptop with a X60 card or lower will have decent battery life, while anything with a more powerful gpu will have abysmal battery.
The gtx 1060 is a card meant for playing at 1080p, and for 90% of the time it's fine. The benchmark you posted has cherry picked games, with the exception of Witcher 3.

Sure, I don't think there's any reason to NOT learn how to prepare it blue, however. I'm absolutely mystified by what's going on with Youtube on my laptop. Sometimes the video just won't play and I get an error. I'll reload the page and after a couple refreshes it will either play normally or the whole tab will just freeze. Sometimes the video will play but there is no sound. This happens in every browser I've tried, with or without extensions. Thing is, Youtube is the only streaming site where this occurs. Started OC with DDU and installing the latest driver. AT the start I was able to push up to +200 core clock w/o anything happening weird. it wasn't until 220 where heaven would freeze, black screen, then continue on w/o any artifacts every time i bump up the core clock. and I was able to push up to 285 like this, no artifacts just the freezing thing. And not until 290+ where I had total failure I guess, 2 times (not in a row probably w/in 2 hours) where I had to DDU, reinstall afterburner as comp would freeze on desktop log.
After the 2nd total failure. I started getting artifacts from 80+(w/ time spy, +85 no artifact in heaven I think) and heaven crashes at around +125. Did I RIP my card?

Personally, I'd consider what are the production applications running on that system and whether you could just do a fresh reinstall and get all those applications up and running on a new instance, and then erase this one.

Arguably. It's mainly about flexibility though. If you don't mind a fuck-huge case, you'll be rewarded with more flexibility to cheaply do certain kinds of upgrades (SLI, add-on pci cards, more drives, maybe cheaper CPU cooler that is just as effective, etc.).
