maybe not a stellar improvement but objectively better in every way (except if you passionately dislike the default blue theme). I think the reason they went with making it windows 7 i.o. say SP3 is because Vista just had kind of a bad rep. It had a bad start with being both too resource hungry and relying on hardware that wasn't in every home yet. Also in the beginning there were a lot of driver issues with everything. And I agree SP2 fixed virtually all of that.

But still when people got win7 "it just werked". They had better computers, drivers worked out of the box, and win7 is simply less bulky than vista.

2 Windows tablets here, one of them is pretty trashy (ATIV Tab 3) and the other one at least can be used for something more than drawing stupid shit (Toshiba Encore 2). I have recently tried 7, 8.1 and 10 for a few months each.

8.1 is the best. It's lightweight and clean. They optimized the 7 code. You slap Classic Shell on it and don't worry about metro crap anymore.

7 was pretty but is not well optimized.

Windows 7 User here. Been one since 2010. No plans to upgrade to Win 10 cause really there is no point. Upgrading to ten will NOT improve the tasks I do on my pc, in fact it may actually cause me to be less productive cause of software/hardware compatibility. My Win 7 install has had zero issues since I first installed it. Only hardware issues have been replacing a dead graphics card (8800GT, rip). Same with my server. No issues with it either. It runs Windows home server 2011. Backs up my client pc's everyday without fail with zero input needed from me. Has served all my movies/files/music,etc with zero problems for several yrs now through out my home to all devices. Can access from anywhere with pain free easiness long as there is internet access. When something works, leave it be, don't fuck with it.

Me again. The only reason I moved from Win 9x to XP then finally to Win 7 was due to hardware and had nothing to do with anything software related. 9x/xp: limit on ram/hdd support. Win 7: No such limitation on either. Nearly all my games/software I use were designed for the Win 9x/XP era. Only modern software is my Antivirus,Media player and Browser.
