How long have you been programming?

been learning python for a few months and i still can't do much.

what have you learned in python? don'ttell me you fell for the machine learning meme
>>
Years
>>

Too long.

>machine learning meme
What about machine learning is a meme?
>>
>>59065836
yes thats what im saying , it just a fad
>>
>>59065644
Force yourself to be interested in doing it, or try finding some method to achieve it in anothrr way.

Do interesting stuff. Draw some dots/circles on a screen an assign a value to them and implement the A* algorithm. I have just done it.

As someone who does machine learning there's a lot of memes. "Deep Learning" isn't anything new. Its just saying that we can do more layers on a neural network because GPUs can do GEMM in parallel quickly. There's been no real innovations since the '90s, and the most promising field (RNNs) are still slow as fuck since everyone decided to hop on the flashy image recognition bandwagon instead of focusing on more important issues such as semantic processing and linguistic models of reasoning.

is there a big difference between RNN and RD(eep)NN? Besides the number of layers i presume
>>

>nothing new
I beg to differ.
The innovation you are looking for is something new that profoundly changes the current methods of doing things, but how would you know until the changes takes affect?
There is so many new algorithms that gets tried, but when something finally sticks, it will have several years behind it.
If you want to know what is current, go to conferences and read papers.

10 years. Still neet unemployed
>>
17 years if you don't count writing batch scripts to easily run muh games.
23 years if you do
>>
19 years, started when I was 8, basically anything that can be done with programming I have done from writing automated theorem proves to my own OS, I also have masters degree in Computer Engineering.
>>
Been doing it professionally for one month now.
>>
>>59065644
Learned when I was a kid, about 15 years before.
>>
>>59065644
I've been actively programming for 3 years now. I started when I got into college.
It really takes some time to get good at it, but that's true for any skill. Don't give up, keep learning and improving.

Long enough to find out this http://tinyclouds.org/rant.html
>>
>>59065644
Is wrote my first 10 print "anon is god"; goto 10 script in 1979 so 38 years.

Still not learned to not fuck up. Godanon is godanon is godanon is godanon is godanon

Started when I was 12.
Am 38 now.

Feels like I'm just starting to uncover the basics.
