The 8bit guy

He reviews old tech and it's great

why do i want to watch some fat balding assclown drone on about apple computers from the 1980s?
>>
Techmoan

Love the videos he does of obscure media formats
>>

>>59059266
prefer LGR with his Oddware series
>>
Louis Rossmann. Mostly Macbook repair, but when he's showing and teaching people how to do it because Apple is a giant douche, that's something. He's also just really fucking intelligent and makes a lot of videos on how to succeed in life.

I don't know why people are into obsolete hardware, seems like a lot of useless knowledge and trivia, but more power to you.

Because he usually actually knows what he's talking about and if he doesn't he brings in somebody who does know.

He also does old synth tech and keyboards.

I like his keyboard restorations and Apple restorations.
If anyone says Druaga they have no taste whatsoever
and if they post that brown chick from AndroidAuthority they are mobile fags

Louis Rossman is up there in my opinion

I like bitwit. I also like his hot wife.
>>
>>59059266
He's alright but also a macfag.
Other notable youtubers:
Bigclive if you want to see how everything actually werks.
Rossmann if you want to see 3 hour videos of him talking while repairing apple shit.
Ashens if you want to see ridiculous chinkshit (not always technology related)
Lazy game reviews if you want to see really old PCs or software (mostly games of course)
>>
>>59060287
>He's alright but also a macfag.
Because Macs are better. Stop being delusional.

On the subject of Youtube, did they just now fuck up the subscription feed to shit? Everything I saw in my feed today and yesterday has been trimmed down to just 8-9 videos.
>>
>>59060327
to be fair his channel helped me build my first gaymen pc.
its scary for first time builders when the price for components is so high.
people who know what theyre doing equate building a pc to legos. and if pc parts cost as much as legos im sure noobs would be inclined to try it themselves without the fear because they could afford to fuck up.
>>
>>59060362
My point is that you wont learn much by watching what is basically an infomercial, there are much better sources than that guy

His channel is alright but why is there a thread daily about him now?!?
>>
Oh wow, didn't know that people on /g/ also watched iBookGuy/8BitGuy.
I really like him because he's pretty knowledgeable about the way old systems worked, and he also does videos like restoring old tech (which I need) and also self-repairing a generic laptop battery (which I'll probably need in the future as well)
>>
>>59059266

I watch LGR
8bitguy, and even his keyboard channel
Techmoan ("it's just a bit of fun")
Drauga"SSD MAN" 1
Louis rossman is great, very intelligent and hates macs!
LinusTech "This post sponsored by RGB RAM link in the description below"

Listening to Wendell talk about Korean monitors is cozy af

I love the glut of retro tech guys on youtube lately, definitely my favorite thing to watch.

Someone not mentioned: RandomGaminginHD

Kid talks about old/obscure/cheap gpus/cpus not dating back more than 15 years or so but they are entertaining vids.

LinusTechtips , you just can't find any flaws
I work as technical engineer , my job is to make visual interfaces using gui and visual basic. Everything I know I've learned from him

Pic related. I haven't seen any other channel quite like that one before. It's not going to appeal to everyone but that's not the point of it.

Level1Techs and Level1Linux - I could listen to Wendell all day long.
Louis Rossmann - if you don't know who that is you don't belong on /g/.
Terry A. Davis - TempleOS, enough said.
Gamers Nexus - the only channel that does thermal testing properly.

Speaking of thermal and power draw testing, it's hilarious to me how many big tech channels don't understand how silicon lottery works. One of the more recent examples is Jayz2Shills and his reference RX 480 vs XFX GTR - the reference one he had was a shit chip while the XFX GTR was a golden one, pure silicon lottery win (perhaps preselected for him by XFX) and he was like "I don't know what XFX is doing to make this power draw so low but I love it" or something along these lines. AHOC and Gamers Nexus actually understand how silicon lottery works. GN specifically tests their GPU AIOs on one and the same GTX 1080 FE for his exact reason.

I'm talking about the annoying vocal fry and this dude ALWAYS talks like that. Is he from california?
>>
>>59064769
he is such a cutie
>>
>>59059266
I like his other's channel slightly more, but both channels are enjoyable (It's basically what I watch on regular basis other than CGTN africa and France24)

Also, I learned from him on how to jerry rig an RCA audio output from a speaker

Kinda annoyed on how much of his half finished pet projects tho
>>
>>59059364
Simple hardware is a good thing to learn about. How older computers function on a fundamental level can be easier to grasp rather than learning how modern computers work.

Learning how we got to the point we are at can be just as important as knowing where we are.

His audio makes me cringe. Might be his voice though.

It sounds so loud and flat, even when he changes inflection, it always sounds the same.
>>
>>59059266
LGR has a very cringey way of talking. 8bit guy has a very passive aggressive tone and his voice trails off before every jumpcut making it sound like hes going to say more but he never does. He also has a very childish vocabulary like when he has to clean the "crud" and or a "yucky" keyboard. I still watch that shit anyways.
