I own the ikea markus and the build quality is fantastic but it's not comfortable to sit upright in. It's only good for lounging back and watching tv and even then it's probably bad for your posture, and I already have a case of lordosis as it is. Can I get a good one, preferably with a headrest for sub £300?

Find a local used office equipment reseller. Buy a Flexsteel or Herman Miller or Haworth or whatever is in your budget.
You can't buy a "real" office chair for under like $500.

Disgusting.

Thanks. Why does it need to be a 'real' one? are you saying that all the others aren't ergonomic at all?
Surely there's a few with a headrest that are better for your posture than the markus. I'd like to spend as little as possible but I obviously want it to be quality.

Commercial chairs are built to last, much sturdier, and have more dense ergonomic padding, lumbar support, etc
Employers don't cheap out on chairs because they don't want a lawsuit from ruining your back with an office depot chair, at least in the US anyway.

Fair enough, thanks for the help.

A govenrment agency/building might be changing/upgrading their furniture, if you're lucky you might be able to cop a good chair for nothing but taxpayer money.
